What Year Is It!?

Time broke and was restored during the May Gathering. In a chaotic gathering, allegedly shortly after the previous one although time was difficult to perceive, the past, present, future, and alternative timelines all merged together into a messy state. Many events from the past, alternate timeline, and possible futures occurred, but this will cover the major events.

After the being known as Someone exploded, it became quickly apparent that time had been seriously broken. People began claiming it was years other than 1126. Moments of the past began to play out as if they were occurring now. While the Five Lions Inn and its immediate surrounding area seemed stable, reports from nearby locations like Coventry and the Commonwealth of Nomana reported that moments in history were clashing in a chaotic swirl.

On Friday evening, one of the Three Fates, believed to be Death, and a new Fae known as Time appeared before the Host. According to both their reports, if this issue was not fixed, then all of reality could unravel. But in order to fix this shattered state of affairs, the Host needed pieces of power. These items, one of twenty seven, nine for each of the three faiths, would help restore the timeline. At least nine of these items would be needed: any being with one of the items from another time would also be able to exist in the current time if they had it when everything was restored.

However, as this information was settling in, the first of Avalon’s old foes emerged: Kharn the First Evil. Kharn was infamous for both killing Duke Kendrick, as well as being unable to be hurt by any means save the Star Golem, a golem made from the metal from a rock that fell from the stars. This invulnerably proved to be a challenge, as Kharn had one of these pieces of power but there was no way to defeat him. The Star Golem was nowhere to be seen. However, Time helped the Host and gave them the Star Golem’s sword, allowing Kharn to be beaten down for good.

Saturday morning began with none other than Doorbreaker with an army of orcs at his call. Doorbreaker believed it was 1121 and that Nashik had promised to each him sorcery. Doorbreaker also believed that Avalon was harboring Nashik. When the Host tried to explain, Doorbreaker refused to believe them. A fight ensued, before an accord was reached, where Doorbreaker gave his piece of power to the Host. Then, a call for aid came from the future: specifically, the future where Blasphemy won and ruled with an iron fist. A group of Heroes traveled to the site of the Medici Wall Fight, a fierce battle where the Host once fought in this terrible future to recover a piece needed to return to the past. As it had once before, reinforcements from the rest of the Host needed to be called from the Inn, as Blasphemy took the field. While Avalon was successful in defeating Blasphemy’s troops, Blasphemy escaped with a piece of power.

Saturday afternoon was quieter, with the Host focusing on missions. The Fugazzi family came to the Five Lions Inn with the famous Wheel of Wonder. Any who spun the wheel would be transported someplace else, where anything could happen. According to reports, one younger Avalonian who spun the wheel was able to learn Necromancy, but was quickly caught and tried.

Also, during the afternoon, the Golden Jackal appeared asking for aid against the demon Atroxacerbus. Those whom the Golden Jackal teleported were sent on a mission to Hell where they fought Atroxacerbus not just for his piece of power but also to rescue Winston, who had been kidnaped by the earlier that day.

Saturday night was one of the toughest fights of the gathering as the Heroes found themselves back in 1096. Both the Lord of the Deep of the past and present arrived to inform the Host that Empress Valna of Nymidia was trying to become a god once again. It was a difficult fight. There was a flash of light at the ritual site before Valna disappeared. Some reports indicate that the Lord of the Deep took Valna to the Void but given she was spotted again later during the gathering, it is unclear.

Sunday began slowly, with Heroes going on various missions until the afternoon. The Elven Queen Yana NeFay began running through town, pursued by angry townsfolk. As much of the host dealt with the mob, Queen NeFay opened a portal of some sort. This portal opened, revealing the old Elven Queen who was slain in 1104. Except, unlike how it occurred in the history books, the portal opened to what appeared to be Greythrone. None other than Waynerod Kormin, the ruler of Greythrone, led the charge. In a chaotic few seconds, a wave of pain crippled all Elves present. Nashik, from a period when he was still a vampire, rushed in using celerity to save the old Elven Queen but Waynerod stole the current Queen. After several minutes of tense negotiations, an exchange was made: the current Elven Queen for the old Elven Queen, who was already dead. The Host also managed to get the piece of power from Waynerod in exchange for a promise: Waynerod and the “family” would come to “visit.” As this Waynerod believed the year was 1126, it is assumed Avalon will be seeing an invasion force from Greythrone in the future.

During dinner, one encounter shook the Host to the core. A being calling herself Empress Cora swept into the Inn with the Hierarch Etrigant on a leash. In a horrifying display of power, this Cora Obliterated several members of the Host, although their alternative timeline selves arrived. In the end, it was revealed that this Cora was Ophidia in disguise.

Sunday evening culminated in a massive battle, as Blasphemy had rallied several past foes of Avalon to his side. This included Valna, Shyama Akasha the “Kitty Lich,” Lucian, Valen Shae, Decius, and others. However, a version of Etrigant who was a Cleric of the High Lord was present to help the Host. The Heroes traveled to a battle in the future Blasphemy won where the Host walked past their own gravestones. It was a brutal fight, as not only was it focused on killing Blasphemy but also protecting what pieces of power Avalon had collected. In the end, only after everyone else had been slain, and utterly unloading everything the Heroes had, did Blasphemy finally fall again.

On Monday, the Heroes gathered for their final task. Presenting all of the piece of power to Time, they worked to fix the timeline. With each piece given, the Heroes were transported to another moment in time, from the Deepening Realm, to under the sea, to the Mistwood, and even the Yule where Red Caps declared war. Finally, when all the pieces were given, there was a moment where it felt like time collapsed in on itself and every moment existed at once before it returned to normal. Several Heroes, either dead or otherwise had been transformed, who held these pieces of power returned to this timeline. As did some of Avalon’s villains, although there is still an investigation as to who might have gathered the other pieces of power. As the task of recovering from the broken timeline goes on, there have been increased reports of Orc sightings as the June gathering approaches. Some of these forces have even been chanting Doorbreakers name, suggesting that perhaps another attack is imminent. We urge our readers to be safe and to let their guard know if they see increased Orc patrols.

On a final note, the Life spell is no longer castable.
