The Story So Far …

The heroes have made it home to Avalon. Their homes were a sight for sore eyes as they have not been to the Dutchy in nearly two years. The Five Lion’s Inn in Avalon Proper also being a welcoming sight as the heroes gather for their four-day gathering.

But, there is no rest for the heroes. Though home has been peaceful and left alone while away, pirates have entered the ports. Allied pirates of the Inky Squid and the Amethyst Star are having problems with some self named “Pirate Queen ” and Gorthak the Half Orc and Demon Knight of Balphagor. As long as the Heroes weren’t dealing with any more Undead they were happy.

On top of the pirate problems the Druids and Paladins suddenly were feeling different with their faith abilities. This also seemed to be true on the Darkness end as Gorthak and a band of half orcs flooded into the Inn Friday night and attacked. An ability that once could be interrupted and take time to complete now could not and was much shorter. A loss of a hero named Dante was felt in the host and Gorthak retreated back to this ship with a prisoner, Guardsman Ryleigh

The gathering continued with a fire to get back at the Demon Knight and retrieve the prisoner. Information was gathered, scouts sent out but then Darkwood was sent in for some skirmishes. It seemed that this “Pirate Queen” was someone who had been corrupted and was being controlled by the Darkwood in some way. More pirate orcs were fought Saturday night and with success they were killed and Guardsman Ryleigh was rescued.
The Captains of the Amethyst Star, Captain Fadewind, and the Inky Squid, Captain Thunderwave,  reached out for help and to help Avalon with this sudden problem of evil pirates and controlling corruption.

With this sudden attack from the Pirate Queen, Gorthak called a parley with Avalon. Emissaries went to speak with him about going after the Queen. Little did he know once we would be done with her, Avalon would turn to him. He was a Demon Knight after all, and needed to be dealt with.

In true Avalonian fashion, during the down time celebration was to be had! The fair Eforie maiden Dinka, the Moral Officer of Avalon, threw a glorious party to remember as the heroes celebrated in the victory of war. There was wine, ale, and music from the very talented Bards Zelos and Lord Thar. Stories were told, laughs were had, and yes, even tears were shed. It was a great night for a party and everyone shared in the merriment.

Then, also in true Avalon fashion, it was cut abruptly by the call to arms. The people quickly sobered up, grabbed their gear and then set forth to board the Amethyst Star and the Inky Squid and sail to a small island. Once there the Avalonians fought a vast amount of pirates under the Queen’s control while a splinter team took rides on the backs of Sauriens to sabotage her ship. Which blew up. The battle was hard fought, led by Squire Dogfang and Squire Liliana with Warlord Dris. Once the Queen was taken and captured, Avalon turned on their heels and began their fight with Gorthak’s forces. This too was long fought, and harder as most of the half-orcs were blessed by Balphagor with the powers of Darkness.

Just as Gorthak’s forces were thinning, the Bow of the Slayer that was wielded by Lord Thar, began to glow and emanate power “By the Royal Blood of the elves and the Eternal Power of the Wood” Thar shouted, letting his 20 year rivalry with the half-orc fuel him as he took his unairing shot. “For Balphagor” was yelled in agony as Gorthak was struck and turned to dust. Some orcs fled and what was left was dealt with.

Another victory over Evil! What awaits the heroes next?
