As the date of the four-day gathering approached, the split force of Avalon prepared for a tough fight. The Mistwood borders were thick with vampires, Darkwood, orcs and half elves. The heroes that were trapped inside the Wood were getting ready to defend the main gate while the reinforcements were punching a hole through Nashik’s forces.
The fight was long and brutal. Resources on both sides were dwindling. Mages and spellsingers running low on power and warriors starting to fade. But Avalon has a reputation of not giving up for anything. Sir Termina and her line held the gate until their eyes laid upon the Avalonian flag flying proudly in the distance.
Finally both sides were reunited and the gate was secure. Now whole, the host made their way back to the elven stronghold Ost Numen.
At the time, Her Majesty Yana Ne’Fey shared the prophecy that had been found at the ball. She announced that she no longer wanted to hold secrets from her people or Avalon’s. She instructed Nashik not to be killed under any circumstances.
During Saturday Nashik arrived under a parley to speak with the nobility and his wife. He stands by the way that he wants to “save” his people. His way being, relying on dark forces to try and achieve something pure. In his eyes he was doing the right thing.
He would also show himself to younger Avalonians and other elves to try and plead his case.
Sometime during the day the elves, of all kinds, were suddenly afflicted by the Darkwood appearing as red markings on their faces. Upon inspection this affliction also came with the weaknesses of the Darkwood. Extra harm from lightning. Speculation says that Shawn Vics, the unseated hierarch of the Darkwood, had a hand in causing the affliction.
But before that could be fully processed a few showed up emanating similar power as the Legacy. She called herself the Yashmiak and she was looking for her “pot”. It was a cauldron of sorts and she claims that Nashik had stolen it.
The Yashmiak, with the snap of her fingers, teleported the host, confirming her god-like powers, from the main building to outside where they were met with Nashik, some of his forces and the cauldron. He appeared just as confused as Avalon, perhaps they too were teleported in the same fashion. Possibly by the Legacy who also appeared.
A fight broke out between the two forces as the Yashmiak roamed the field trying to find Nashik. The former king was busy tossing what seemed to be half elves into the boiling cauldron, thinking it would cure the Darkwood corruption. Unfortunately he was wrong, instead of curing the elves they emerged as different creatures entirely. These fey were gold and carrying mirrors. They didn’t engage in the fight, instead they were too enamored by their own reflection. It was later discovered that these creatures are called Fimorians.
Just as quickly as the fight began, it ended and the heroes found themselves teleported back to their original places before the Fey god snapped her fingers. Maybe because she was successful getting her “pot” back.
The excitement and dread didn’t stop there. The following day there was a plan shared with Avalon to try and remove the Darkwood corruption and sever the connection to Nashik. The Avaonian sorcerers along with Her Majesty were going to make an attempt at a rank seven sorcery that would hopefully be successful in severing said connection. According to Yana, it will come at a great risk of losing Nashik but she has made the decision to put her people first. So Avalon took on the task of finding and gathering the components for this very risky sorcery.
Once the materials were found and the magic was written, Avalon gathered outside and formed a circle around the sorcerers. Nashik, along with Roland, the vampire demon knight of Margos, was already there.
Words went unspoken as the sorcerers began their casting. Darkwood shot up from the ground, vampires rushed in and Avaon stood fast against the onslaught. They did their best to keep the enemies out of the spell casting. The fight was long and brutal, so much so that even some of Avalon’s heaviest hitters like Sir Lascula, Lord Chancellor Ventrick and even Sir Derek were falling, it was yet another battle where the mages were running dry on magic to keep these heroes and others on their feet. It was by far the toughest fight Avalon has engaged in in a very long time and they knew they needed to stand strong if they were going to succeed.
Nearly two hours of battle went by as the sorcerers’ crescendo rose higher and higher in their final chair. Power erupted from the center of their circle and rapidly bounced between the ancient elven couple. Seconds later they both collapsed alongside the darkwood. The corruption dissipated from the elves and the vampires scrambled. Roland called out that he would be back before he too disappeared into the night.
Battered, bruised and in some cases still bleeding, Avalon gathered themselves and headed back to the main stronghold. Her Majesty’s and Naskin’s bodies were taken to the House of the Sun. It was reported that the Queen was conscious and stable while Nashik was proclaimed dead.
For the remainder of the gathering the heroes did clean up the remainder of the enemies left behind from Nashik and Roland. After such a long fight they took this small respite to relax and catch their breath.
Countess Silverpool announced that though they succeeded partially with the ritual there was still more to do and the queen had asked them to stay and aid them.
Whatever aid they needed, Avalon would stay and help.
