The September Gathering was hotbed for Hierarch activity as the Heroes scrambled to fight back. In our top story, several Hierarchs attempted to cross over onto this plane and spread their influence.
On Saturday morning, several Heroes went to investigate New Gleneden During the previous gathering in August, Dark Servants successfully completed a rite to summon Teera’al onto this plane. Afterwards, she set up a base in New Gleneden, creating what the rumors described as “a party that never ended.” Those that went to New Gleneden were cursed to give into various sins, giving into their worst impulses. While no one was killed during this mission, the Heroes were unable to remove Teera’al from New Gleneden.
On Saturday afternoon and into the evening, a group of Heroes travelled to assist Thrusk, a Half-Orc Follower of Light who had previously helped the Heroes during the Nymidian War. They believed they were aiding him in his quest to get blessed. However, the party was tricked, and instead allowed Balphagor to be summoned via a rite. Balphagor used his powers to uncorrupt Orcs and Goblins from the melded Bazmodious and Shaun Vicks, referred to as “Shabazz” in previous reporting. During the evening, the Heroes fought against Balphagor and successfully managed to send him back to Hell.
On Sunday, the Heroes raced once again to stop another rite from summoning Margos in New Briton. As many of the Heroes were slowed down by taking boats to New Briton, the Druid Toli used his abilities to Tree Walk to the ritual site. Toli managed to successfully delay the ritual long enough for it to fail summoning Margos. The Heroes were then able to beat down the rest of the vampiric forces and stop more evil from appearing.
During all this chaos, the corruption of Shabazz continues to threaten Heroes. This corruption evolved, as any on the path of the High Lord or the Mother, was weakened when they struck the killing blow against one of these corrupted creatures. This lead to several encounters of creatures posing extra dangers, such as werecreatures. Several groups of werecreatures almost took down experienced Heroes, showing how dangerous Shabazz in this cosmically wrong state is.
After the gathering, there has been much activity. There have been rumors of a rift opening in the Wolfskael Mountains. Archaeologists have been investigating the area, but have reported a new strange corruption from within. What’s worse, Bainites have been seen roaming the area, causing new concerns. It is believed the Heroes will be traveling to the Wolfskaels for the October Gathering as a result.
In other news, another attack gripped the Dale. Between moons, the town of Cold Stream, which had been attacked by High Inquisitor Nathan while under the influence of Bazmodious, has been attacked again. Aside from body parts, there appear to be no bodies left at the scene. There was only a bloody note that read “This is Nathan’s Folly. More towns will fall because of him.” Heroes are investigating the scene, but this new attack has left several Dalesfolk on edge.
