As the winter season settles in, it seems much colder than usual. People believe it may be caused by the influx of ice demons that were still emerging from the Lands of Ice and Snow. They were still up to no good. But what?
Saturday of the gathering seemed to be the main focus for these demons.
As the air seemed to get colder and colder a large contingent of ice demons appeared close to Avalon Proper. The host quickly martialled and headed out towards the enemy. The temperature continued to drop as they got closer.
Once there they saw that the demons were once again drawing triangles everywhere from the ground to the trees. But unlike the previous engagements they were actually being led by someone this time. It was a blue saurian named Hiss. The very same one that took the young Avalonian, Cloth, to Hell at the previous gathering. He was having the demons creating the triangles and chanting what seemed to be a name of some kind. It has been rumored that Hiss was trying to summon his demonology teacher from Hell who was said to be an ice demon Lord. Is that what Avalon had been witnessing this time? If it was, they could not let it be completed.
Avalon engaged.
In the height of the Winter season ice demons were at their peak strength no matter if they were a simple imp or bigger. Avalon pushed them and their defenses.
The enemies seemed endless as the heroes continued to fight, but after what seemed like forever through this frigid fight, a High Druid named Willow used his tree walking ability to get behind enemy lines. Once there with a companion named Echo they were able to interrupt whatever ritual was happening. Once the ritual circle was disrupted the demons were ordered to start a retreat. It’s unknown if Hiss himself left by foot or by Hell Gate.
Victory was Avalon’s but the heroes were very worn. The brutal fight left mages depleted of power and those martially inclined were physically drained. They had to preserve what little they had left in case more forces decided to show. The cycle change was hours away from rejuvenating the heroes.
Thankfully there was not another force to be seen or heard from for the rest of the day and night. There were only a few nuisances they had to deal with.
Then on Sunday something peculiar happened. A wave of Arctic Wind swept through all of Avalon. It was so powerful that it had rendered some people stunned for a few seconds, but that wasn’t the concerning part. The druids, paladins and clerics reported that this wind was carrying a powerful aura of Evil that originated from The Lands of Ice and Snow.
Suddenly things started connecting.
The “named” Demon Lord that has command over the ice demons may very well be Hiss’ demonology teacher. The very same that the saurian could have been trying to summon these last few moons. This wave of Evil could very well mean that this Ice Demon Lord has been released from Hell and is currently in the Lands of Ice and Snow.
Needless to say this did not bode well.
Avalon now needed to prepare for a battle with the Evil that didn’t belong on the mortal plain.
What awaits the Heroes in the coming months?
